ADOPTION
A German Shepherd Dog Rescue in Wales
We endeavour to match the right dog to the right home, in order to do this we have a number of steps
which we need to go through to find the correct dog for you. To adopt one of our German Shepherds:
Initial contact to find out more about the home you are able to offer. Please complete our application form, Downloadable here,
or call 01591 610 380, or email us at adopt@hugsrescue.co.uk.
We will then contact you to discuss your application and arrange a home check.
The home-checker will then visit your home. All family members should be present including other pets.
We will contact you regarding the results of the home check.
Assuming the home check is satisfactory:
We will match a dog to your family lifestyle and suggest a suitable dog. If you have a particular dog
in mind we will see if this dog is still available and is the right dog for your environment.
You, the family and any other pet dogs will then meet the prospective dog at the rescue centre to see how you all interact.
If this proves successful, then we proceed to your adoption of the dog and transportation home.
We request a minimum donation of £160 for an adult dog; or £185 for a puppy.
We then contact you in the initial adoption timescale to ensure that the dog is settling in.
A follow up home check is performed around 6 weeks after adoption, for further guidance and ongoing support.
And we would love to have photographs and updates on your new family friend.
We will always be available for advice, guidance and support. If problems do arise, it is your
responsibility to arrange return of the dog to the rescue.
Generally we will NOT rehome to:
Pubs/Clubs
Flats and shared accomodation
Breeders
Persons under the age of 18
Homes where the dog will be left longer than 4 hours alone
Homes with unsecure gardens (minimum 1.8m fence)
